Objectives:
To link three interlocking commitments:
(1) Zero hunger
(2) Healthy and safe food
(3) A sustainable food system
and so to create a strong national voice for food security.
National Alliance Member Organisations:
Food Banks Canada, Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Canada Without Poverty, Dietitians of Canada, National Farmers Union, Union Paysanne, Canadian Council of Professional Fish Harvesters; provincial networks; trade unions; and many local food security organizations, food banks, and food policy group
Core Achievements:
1. Bringing together the disparate pieces of the food movement in Canada and continuing to keep them together;
2. Encouraging leadership from Indigenous peoples;
3. Beginning to break down the 'two solitudes' between English and French Canada;
4. Supporting a process to engage citizens in development of food policy at the Federal as well as local and regional government levels.
